Hayao Miyazaki - A tiny tribute to one of animations greatest directors
I remember watching 3/4 of Laputa Castle in the Sky from a bootleg recording of the TV, it was my first real introduction to anime. I didn’t see the beginning of this movie for almost another 10 years when it was finally released on DVD in the UK, however that movie and My Neighbour Totoro had a massive impact on me growing up. They have set an extraordinarily high bar for what I expect animation and movies to accomplish. Not many movies other than Studio Ghibli films come close to capturing such brilliant characters, landscapes and stories.

Sir Patrick Moore aka The Games Master - 4 March 1923 – 9 December 2012
I remember Patrick Moore fondly as The Games Master and presenter of The Sky at Night. He was a British icon and instantly recognisable with his monocle and posh accent. Whilst creating this image I read more into his life and found that his legacy as a scientist is marred by his somewhat right-wing and bigoted political views. I found this really disappointing and I almost didn’t finish the image, instead I made his features and gaze harder than originally intended, regardless his outdated idiotic views, I believe it is important we remember his legacy as an astronomer and scientist.
